Step D. Cable Guide Installation

  1. Replace the Myford Apron Sealing Plug with the included white acetal cable guide.
  2. Ensure the orientation matches the picture shown.
  3. It will require tapping in with a soft faced mallet.

Step E. Cable routing

  1. Place the apron on the lathe cabinet as shown in the picture below (left)
  2. Clip the cable into the cable guide as shown in the picture below (right)

Step F. Refitting the apron to the saddle

  • Carefully guide the apron up to the saddle, whilst allowing the cable to pass through the cable guide unsnagged.
  • Loosely screw the apron to the saddle with 2 turns of each screw.
  • Gradually tighten the screws evenly, whilst regularly checking to ensure the apron isn't binding anywhere.
    • Important! It is quite likely that the apron may be unable to fully screw home at the back of the apron (see picture below). This is due to the gear not meshing correctly with the screw rack.
      • Rock the hand wheel back and forth until you feel it mesh. This should allow you to tighten the apron completely.

Step G. Final Assembly

  • Refit the lead screw by following the steps in reverse here
